Last Summer we noticed two small fish that we thought were newly hatched Koi.. They were black except one had what looked like it had an orange spot. We have fifteen or twenty gold fish of various colors. Could the Koi change color and we cann't identify among the gold fish?

goldfish (especially comets) typically start off as black, and then they slowly turn orange....If you've got 15-20 goldfish...I'm guessing it's a goldfish.

This is what koi fry look like...They are born clear.

Notice the little koi inside of the bigger koi fry.

We raise our koi fry in aquarium tanks outside.

Wow, you are good at taking pictures, that is amazing. Is this a macro shot. Could you still see him moving around in his belly? You can see it so clearly.

Airic, yes it was a macroshot. The little guy that is inside the bigger guy has such
a pathetic look on his little face, doesn't he.

The koi were all hatched at the same time. After the spawn we remove
the egg laden plants from the pond, and hatch and grow the fry in large
tanks outside.
Some grow faster than others, cause they eat more. The ones that eat more
and grow bigger -- get to snack on the smaller fry.

This photo is proof that the bigger fry eat the younger fry. Such is Mother Nature.

It is an amazing photo! Is it a glass tank and you shot the photo into it, or is did you shoot from above in a vat of some kind? You got good clarity there!
