Now delurking; read at your own risk:
It's been a busy spring, so I haven't had much to say about my pond.... it pretty much takes care of itself, though I did pull up the pails of hardy lilies and divide/repot them. And the redwings have returned, one pair in the cattails at each end. My dear partner Patti moved in just a year ago and has been busily redecorating the house and me, with varying degrees of success. The house at least is lovely. I knew lotus took longer to wake up, so wasn't terribly worried; I got a couple of Mrs. Slocum roots last spring, and they did well in their bushel tubs.... a bit over a week ago, I noticed a green shoot in one, and now both have several little quarter-sized leaves on the surface, so it's time to take the paddleboat for a ride and stuff a few lilypads in the mud to show that I care. Sooner or later, I'll update my personal web page.... I've given a lot of thought to the picture of the gazebo and somewhat maudlin paragraph that accompanies it; the sentiments are still true, but healing time flows on, praise be! So much for musings from the hinterlands for now! Cheers! Gary Woods AKA K2AHC- PGP key on request, or at home.earthlink.net/~garygarlic Zone 5/6 in upstate New York, 1420' elevation. NY WO G |

Seriously, except for the out of season thing, no big deal, though 90s and humid isn't a lot of fun. It's back to normal 70s-80s for this time of year now. The lawn sure did like it, especially with nearly 3" of rain just before the heat....(all those midwest folks are saying "ONLY 3 inches? Lucky devil!") I gotta go mow... pictures when the loti bloom... I promise! Gary Woods AKA K2AHC- PGP key on request, or at home.earthlink.net/~garygarlic Zone 5/6 in upstate New York, 1420' elevation. NY WO G |

Hi Gary,
We will all look forward to your pics. Phyllis and I have lilies, but have never had a lotus. Have fun. Temps down here in Jackson are in the mid-90's! Jim |
