How do they come on their own? I guess bird legs might carry them. Our
ponds (at home and the acre farm pond on our wild property) are not
connected to streams. The home pond is not OK for game fish. The farm
pond is fine to stock. However, the day fish and game checks home ponds
is far, far away!

We think they come in as eggs on the feet or feathers of water birds or on
the moist skins of frogs. My neighbor's stock pond always seems to have a
small population of them and we're at least 3/4 miles from the lake.
