Saw a 1-2" long head stickout out on the rocks today. Probably too small to
harm the fish, or frogs, but I'm sure he'll go after the salamanders in the
pond, and the wife wants him gone.

If memory serves, a minnow trap is the best solution?

Turns out we have a lot of Nightshade growing locally, and all along one
edge of the pond, so I know he'll dart in there, if we try to snag him with
a net.

Maybe the cats will grab him... he was too far away, and too small to make
out what type he was.

As I recall - one rec.ponder baited her
minnow trap with a live fish and
put in the minnow trap with part of it
out of water. Caught the snake and
released it.

Yeah thought I remembered something along those lines.. and she kept some of
it out of the water, so the snake could breathe.

Only thing I'm not sure of.. the pond has about 50 fish of various sizes
now.. not sure if the snake would bother with on in a trap. his head was 1-2
inches (probably 1.5" max), so I'm not sure what he's going after.. the
frogs might even eat him, since they are quite large.

That would solve everything! And be tasty and
nutritious!

Even if you removed the snake another will appear as we quickly learned.
It's really a waste of time to try and remove them one by one.
