The ladies who latte were out garden center
shopping today (future post about miniature iris)
and we came across some garden gnomes and
after much discussion decided to resist purchasing
one as one husband wouldn't understand and one
lady had too many exuberant labradors.
Then one us (moi) came home to find this story
on the internet...

>>Customs and Quarantine officers have broken a smuggling racket in which snakes and lizards were sent as gifts, concealed in the hollow spaces of pottery figurines and garden gnomes.<<

P.S. For newbies, OT stands for Off Topic and allows
the discriminating ponder to skip this thread all together.
I wouldn't advise it as OT is usually very interesting and informative
and, just think, you may have been saved from Death by Garden Gnome
since you read this!!

I'm not at all surprised. I've _never_ trusted those garden gnomes. Call
it racist to apply such blanket stereotypes, but really...

Anybody here read Harry Potter books? In there, the Weezely (sp?)
family had some very nasty gnomes.

I don't recall reading about garden ponds in those books, but Hogwarts
could surely use one.

Huge Harry Potter fans here :-))
Mine daughter and I have each ordered book 7 as
neither of us would be able to wait for the other to
finish it.
My favorite Weasley gnome moment came when
Fred and George put one in a tutu, painted it gold
and tied it to the top of the Christmas tree. It sat there
and made nasty faces at the merry makers.

My book is ordered and we will be going to the midnight party to pick
up our copies. I have very mixed feelings about book 7. Ingrid

We've ordered our copy on line, to be delivered as soon as the book's
out. It's for 2 adults to share, because the kids have moved out. We
watch the movies too .

So do we, have mixed feelings.
We will be out of town when it comes out
so no parties here just a long after holiday
trip back with the books waiting for us at
home.
