A Red Racer

I caught a red racer snake eating baby koi out of my pond. He's crawl down to the edge of the water and wait, then dart his head into the water and eat one. I'm not going to stop him, we have way too many koi babies! Survival of the fittest!

I had 2 florida water snakes inhabit my pond for several months once.(had to consult a snake I.D. book to verify type) I found that the snakes were more entertaining than the fish and the were only able to catch the minnows and tadpoles. They went after the fish food I threw in and I actually enjoyed them. One of them moved on and I sadly found the other dead at the edge of the pond. Raccoons dinner I suspect...
