A lot of people keep the Rosy Red minnow in their ponds. I started out with a dozen or so, and some of them have spawned "common" babies. Anyway, I think you can just feed them regular [pond] fish food, and if they're like goldfish, they'll also consume algae and any bugs [larvae] that are in the water.

I have several dozen minnows. Most have a grayish black back and silver belly ( but u really dont see their bellies after in the pond) I also have several dozen rosey reds, which are a much friendlier fish, and give your pond alot of character. I feed the larger fish their floating pellets first to keep then busy, then I throw the smallest pellets they make in a different area for the minows and smaller and slower fish.
