See the three cedar structures. In your area, how much do you think it would cost to power wash then have two coats of premium semi transparent stain applied to all sides on each of the structures? Labor only, Sherwin Williams Woodscape stain cost not included. The work was done by a licensed professional painting company.

Will be interesting to see the variation in your cost estimates mainly based upon your location.

Just for fun.

Cedar is expensive wood, no matter wher you live, my preference would be to let it age naturally because it has it's own preserving oils
Stains for wood can vary wildly depending on the manufacturer and ingredients, but I think labour would be the largest cost component.
It would really depend on the local enonomy.
Max 3 hours at $35/hour, $70 for materials. It's a small job so maybe a $100 surcharge on top. Total including taxes less than $300.
Just my opinion.

I see a pergola and lattice structure, ony 2. Where is the third?
Why powerwash, how old were the structures?

Right, you live in a completly different climate than myself.
Still, hot and dry is better than cold and wet, for wood.:)

But you also have termites. I've only seen them in a zoo.;)

I find your post interesting, Lou.
What people deal with in different climates and economies I can only read about on forums such as this.

I feel my post could be perceived as vain and in non-gracious taste so I have asked that it be removed.

Lou
nope it isn't. We had dry hot weather in arizona, any wood outside suffered. Tires rotted on the cars.

The job is completed as shown. The work was done by a licensed professional painting company. Semi-transparent adds just a hint of color while it provides excellent protection.

The total cost was $702.

I was of course joking with my guess of $1.99..
but $702? wow. I would have to add on another $20 for a new pair of pants, if you know what I mean! I can understand how the heat would break it down quicker.
