it's the turtle mating time I think... been seeing dead turtle around and I thought it would be good it we have Marshall around here. Also I saw a craigslist post asking for someone to adopt a turtle and I really wish we have Marshall around here again!

Depending on the environment and of course age of the turtles, mating season can pretty much be most of the time although you are right in regard to certain species which only mate at particular times of the year and some only once every three to five years or more. Dead turtles though is not necessarily related to mating season unless you are seeing dead turtles who are very very young. Often times they can die very young due to a disease outbreak and especially times when the food supply gets taxed too heavily and they simply starve. Take some images of the dead ones and send them to me and I will try and identify what is killing them. Don't take images of them mating though or they might sue you for pornography lol :ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

That sucks. That is a pretty common way they die because they like to get on the road to bask but they don't realize the danger and they cant get out of the way quickly enough and are also hard to see and miss by motorists. If there is a particular sopt that alot are getting hit at you can sprinkle some lime at the edge and that will deter them a bit and usually they will turn back and go look for somewhere else to bask. I put up small barriers along the road where I live because of my large reservoir and obviously the ponds and turtles attract alot of wild turtles so the system "funnels" them away from the road and into the woods where they can come to the pond or reservoir safely.
