Here's a pic from the mini stream I used to have. RobAmy's is probably the best example of a stream I have seen. Its so natural look, its unbelievable!

how deep did you guys dig your stream out?

the reason i asked is i love the way the stones look natural, i didnt dig my stream down i laid it straight on grass and built up the sides. on top of that i sometimes get an algae buildup and the water level rises over the edges of the stream. more thanonce i thought i had a hole int he liner.

Minimum 6" in depth. Maximum depth 18".

Rock and gravel (river rock).
Also vary the width of the stream bed. This will result in varying water velocities based on width. Meander your stream. It will look more natural.
