Many of us have pond or pool thermomenters on our ponds nowadays which enables us to tell both water and external airtemperature readings ay time day or night
Last year we decided after having a cheap Chinese pond thermomemter to go for something a little more expensive in the form of this German produced pond/air temperature thermometer .
Its now one year on [29/8/15] the thermometer first went into the pond and as such we tought it high tme for first year review
Made by a German firm called TFA it is a well designed peice and pleasing to the eye when in the water
To date the pond and air thermometer has worked faultlessly with no seepage of water either into the weighted area of the pond thermemeter nor the digital display either .
The battery in the pond thermometer has been replaced only once so far with the display unit indoors having two sets of batteries being replaced .

The digital air thrmomenter itself hasnt needed its changing as of yet.
As to the cost of the Malibu , though its a tad more expensive than most the cost is well worth it as we cannot fault its reliability.........
For the money we paid for it £42.23 + P&P reduced from £59.99 +P&P it was a bargin
All in all if you want a remote digital pond thermometer I strongly recomend the TFA 30 3053 Malibu wireless thermometer [UK and Europe only].....

You mentioned a weighted part. Is that what's in the pond, as the pic shows a floating probe?
Yes thats the bit in the pond Maggie , the acctual head of the probe sits flush with the surface of the water , the only draw back with it is that after a while in the water you have to take it out of the pond to clean it with a soft tooth brush .
Once clean its a simple matter of dropping it back into the pond ,
