new to forum and new pond owner, want to know about this stuff i see at menards called tetra pond sludge reducer. it says that is contains beneficial bacteria that i need for starting a new pond. its only like 14$. and i do see the microbe and other expensive stuff online. what i want to know is if this stuff is more for cleaning or for adding beneficial bacteria. cause i have no sludge, its a new pond, what i want is to start the nitrogen cycle so i can get some koi.
will this crap help me or should i just order some of the Microbe-lift PL

the sludge reducer is for the bottom of your pond it floats around and slowly sinks to bottom, its real intent is for rocky bottoms that cant be vaccuumed. any meijers or walmart will carry the bacteria, meijers carries organica pristine pond, very good stuff.use the microbe lit pl. gel to start your filter then the organica for the monthly maintainence dosing
theres definately something fishy about this forum!

no not really, its low oxygen bacteria survives in the low oxygenated water at the bottom of the pond. it does eat fish waste but is not intended to colonize filters. use the pl because its fast, or any liquid bacteria will work. the reason its called sludge treducer is because its meant for the bottom of the pond. it wont hurt anything to use it but you want colonization in your filter, or at least very fast.
