I have some yellow Iris that bloomed but now the flowers have withered. Can I prune the flowers off? Will this help it bloom again?

If I'm not mistaken once an iris has bloomed it's done. It's a one shot deal. I've cut mine back somewhat and placed it in a more shaded area of the pond, since it's full bloom it's started to get hot spots from over sunning.

Thanks, it's my first pond, and didn't read anywhere if Iris bloom over and over. I bought one's with blooms already. I cut the flowers off.

3000 Gallon pond in progress

Some iris bloom both spring and then fall. Most are one or the other. I prefer to let mine reabsorb some of the nutrients from the stalks. This may be just an old wives tale from my granny... but I let the stalk wither to brown and dry... then cut them out.

No experience with Iris, sorry.
