If you had a clay bottom pond would you direct bury or still keep you plants in pots? I don't want things to get out of control but thinking it may be more beneficial for the plants by allowing them to spread their roots. What plants are too aggressive and not want to direct bury? I have two lilies that I direct buried and they are shooting up 2-3 new pads a day. One potted one I have is doing well but not growing quite as fast.

Good question. I think I would try both. Remember, you may not be able to go back once they take root though.
