Just found this site last week. I am Dave from Southern NJ. I have had a pond for the last 10 years. It was a 200 gal pond built for my kids red ear sliders. They ran away 1 week after being moved for the house to their new home.

So we added 10 for a dollar feeder gold fish. Many have survived the hawks & blue heron. We have added a few more here and there. Most of them will come to the surface when it is feeding time.

1 month ago we ripped out the old pond and built a 4000 gal pond with a cave. The fish love their new home. We figured we would try the turtle thing again. We bought 2, a male & a female. Well the female ran away within the 1st 24 hours. I thought I had the yard excape proof but I guess not. The male seems to love his new home.

I love reading everyones stories & questions......

Nice to meet you all!!

Welcome Dave. I recently bought 2 turtles as well. The large one promptly laid eggs so I did some research and found they had to lay them on land. We spent 4 hours building an area for her and the next day she ran away. ungrateful turtles!
