I found a page on orfes in a pond book. What are they? Does anyone here have them? It says that they are illegal in some places...

I had 3 orfes unitl last year. They had grown to 12" in the 2 years that had them. They are hard to keep because they are very sensitive to water changes and chemicals added to the pond. I added Fluke medication last year and within minutes the orfes were bent at 90 degrees.

I bought mine at probably the same place MassKoi bought his and mine didn't even make it through the ride home. To me they are not as visually appealing as a koi or goldfish, I just bought one because it was something different but I wouldn't do it again. I too think they are illegal in some states and from what I remember reading about them you should buy them in groups and not just one, they like to school around and chase each other (and man, are they fast).
