Recently we were asked to move some fish there were 18 greater than 20" koi and approx 45 12 inches and smaller comet/shubunkins, etc. - we had to drain the 21,000 gal pond too - and the water quality was 1/2" visibility. Each trip was 40 miles roundtrip and all equipment was to be supplied by us other than electricity and freshwater.
Also, two days after the original transport we were to catch 40 smaller fish and bring them to a friend's pond and release them.
I am unsure what to charge - the job came up and we were available - there was not much time to think - we have never done this before, but are avid ponders....any assistance or knowledge of what something like this would cost would be ever so appreciated.
Thank you - El
Cost of transporting 18 20"+ koi (not prize fish, but beauties) + approx 45 <12" 40mi

Ponding is hard work dont cut your self short
you got mileage , travel time,,equipment,,tanks ,,hours,,
give your self a fair wage...and add up all the extras

I agree, if you are bailing someone out and they can afford to pay for your services, charge them what you feel your time is worth including mileage and expenses.

Thanks for the encouragement - when I tally everything up it just seems like an awful lot of $$$, but he got a LOT of fish - some were close to 3 feet long!....and the best part is we did not lose any - which is amazing - it was in the mid 80's and the water was so filthy the aerator pump was clogging non-stop...it was fun, but a lot of stress and a long long day.
