I've wanted a pond for as long as I can remember, and this year my husband said to me, "what project do you want to do this year, the upstairs bathroom, diningroom furniture, or a backyard pond." :) No brainer, and now we have this wonderful pond with two waterfalls and a short cascading stream in between. I have 10 calico fish in it that I believe are shubunkins (sp?), three really fat tadpoles, one baby fish from I know not where, and a gazillion little water skimmers. Best of all, the thing is a bird magnet. Now that migration has begun we are getting two to three different kinds of warblers every day drinking and bathing in the cascade. Right after the fish went in a racoon came by to check them out. Luckily we built lots of fish caves and steep edges. The other night our motion light went on and I looked out back just in time to see a fox taking a drink. I'm in heaven! I swear, it's hard to go to work in the morning.. I just wanna sit and watch my fish.

Look forward to getting advice, ideas, and sharing stories on this forum.

Joan

Welcome to the forum. There's nothing like nature to calm the soul!
The warmth of the sun for pardon
The song of the birds for mirth
One's closest to God's heart in a garden
Than anyplace else on earth!
