I run 3 - 55 gal drums on my 4500 gal ponds and it does very well.
I need to ad 1 more drum as my fish load grows
If you have 1 - 55 gal drum per 1200 gal your doing a good job

that depends on your bio load...5 fish in 1000gals isnt going to need the filtration that 10 same sized fish will need in the same water volume.
theres definately something fishy about this forum!

Hi Guys,
Would I be OK to begin with 3 x 55 gallon skippy type filters for my new pond of 15,000 gallons pond. I would expect to add more when I start to stock fish.
Also is there a significant performance difference between using 55 gallon drums as opposed to the bathtub type container recommended on the Skippy site?
Finally is there any accepted order for the biological filter together with a protein skimmer? Which one first?
Regards from Kenya

both containers make great filters...you can hide the stocktanks at ponds edge easier, as a waterfall. but either can be located remotely. i ve built and use both styles. heres a pic of the stocktank style on my outdoor pond. i built mine with a waterfall weir not an outpipe.

Would you also be kind enough to give me the dimensions for the tank.ie how high up the grid is, how high above that the outlet and what height the "T" junction inlet.

One of the good things about the stock tanks is they come in large sizes..
