what do you guys use for putting plants in the rubbermaid troughs. I got a 150 gallon Rubbermaid trough today. was going to get some planter baskets and some 1/2 pvc pipe and elbows and make a frame so it will float. was going to paint the pvc with krylon fusion. was going to put some water lillies. What do you guys use for soil mix?

I only use pea gravel. The fish take care of the nutrients.

agreed! No soil in the pond--it makes a terrible mess.

ok but do you leave the baskets at the bottom of the Rm tub and the lillies will grow to the top? or do you put them on some sort of shelf?

the lillies will grow up, yes. They also have lillies that just float as they are essentially a corm.
