I have a Cal Pump PW 2500 that's been running 24x7 for about 2 years,
and last week it stopped.

It had no clogging or blockage, either external or internal, so I took
off the impeller chamber and found no blockage there.

The impeller won't turn under power, and while I can turn it by hand,
it's not easy and more or less free-spinning as it should be.

The motor emits a humming under power but that's all.

The motor appear to be a sealed affair, and I'm wondering if there are
any repairable parts inside to make it worth dismantling further.

A new pump is about $130 shipped, and I'd rather not spend the money
if I can just replace a carbon brush or something.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!
Mike

There seems to be no repair parts listed, but here is a site with a
better price. $85.95

Hi Mike - if it is the 2500 Cal pump with a rounded handle on the top and 3
small screws on the bottom to hold on the "intake" plate, I had a major
problem with them this year and last (sold 10 and had 6 returned under
warranty), even the one in my own pond started humming loudly (a first for a
submerged pump that I know of) and quit - I no longer sell them and replaced
my own with a Beckett 1800
JME - Gale :~)

Thanks!

You know, I bought this pump from them a couple of years ago and for
some reason I hadn't thought to check them for parts or prices.

Thanks for the info - this one did start humming loudly a couple of
months ago and I made sure it was not blocked.

Beckett 1800 eh?

I'll go look it up, thanks!

No kidding, it is thick, green, growing fast. I just mowed a week ago...........no way it can wait till we get back.. we are heading back into the high 70's again and sun, which means it will grow even faster.
pond is 54 and it will be going back into the high 60's 70's by the end of this week.

Thanks, figured it was worth a shot.
Thanks for the suggestion Addy. I don't think I am yet ready to spend +$200 on a pump. Just spoke to the seller and they said they would replace it.

I personally would never recommend this pump to anyone!! I had two of these this year and both only lasted a month or so. Here is a link on this forum discussing the cal pump issues. Hope it helps.
