Would love some info how to get rid of a watersnake

All these snakes are harmless. They will not attack unprovoked and will never chase you. The worst they can do is crap on you and possibly cut your skin if they bite(with the exception of the copperhead he could ruin your day) and that's if you mess with them. If you don't pull away when they...

Would love some info how to get rid of a watersnake

Funny. I had a large garter snake sighting in my pond two summers ago and loved it. Saw it catch a frog and swim across my pond with it. Was hoping to see it again but did not last season. I can only hope he comes back this season.

    Carp pox??

Hi Lisa Well as of last night this Koi was still hangin in there. I moved him yesterday to a 20 gal tank with warmer water in the hope that his immune system would kick in and he can recover. Tough fish. Jury is out on being contagious. Most say no. Which is what I want to here. My water...

    Carp pox??

Hi all Anyone ever dealt with carp pox or Koi pox. One of my Koi developed white splotches on his head back and fins as the water got cold this fall. Its my best guess that that's what it is. He has gone down hill in the last few days and I think he will be done by am. I read that its like...

Just a thank you to all that offered there advice

Lisa You were a big help. I kept referencing you and your pond when the Koi people kept insisting that I was in for a disaster because my pond did not have the "PONDMAX 1000 FILTER AND THE ULTRA VIOLET NUCLEAR STERILIZER". Time, plants and let nature do its job has worked out really well so...

Just a thank you to all that offered there advice

Been a busy summer. Just wanted to thank everyone here that offered their advice when I was flipping out over different things that were going on in my pond since I built it. I was told it would mature and stabilize after the second season or so. I guess it has since this will be my third winter...

What happened to my frogs--Chapter 2

Frogs are cold blooded like snakes, lizards, turtles and Koi.

What happened to my frogs--Chapter 2

Frogs need to get out of the water to warm themselves and to absorb vitamin D from sunlight. If there were no launching areas to use to get out of the water and no areas to basically climb out they would weaken over time. Also I would consider water temps in the pond if its small and in direct...

Leave a red eared slider in pond for winter?

Hi Guys Sorry about the late response. Thanks for the advice. I originally put 4 hatchlings in the pond back in May. One I found in bog area dead. Two I have no idea if they took off or died in the pond. I have one left that has been doing very well. Im leaning toward leaving him in the pond and...

Leave a red eared slider in pond for winter?

HI All I have a 3500 gallon pond. 4ft deep. Gravel bottom but only a inch or two deep. Large rocks and caves. Zone 7b. I put a baby RES in the pond in May. He has grown quite a bit since. Still only a couple of inches but doubled in size since May. Occasionally he eats Koi pellets when I feed...

    Interesting "phenomenon" with disappearing algae!

I have parrots feathers that I cut back in the fall. They are showing no sign of life. I'm guessing that they probably should have by now. Is it time to pull the plug and get them out of the pond?

    Interesting "phenomenon" with disappearing algae!

I had lots of string algae over the winter and into spring both years. both times it all disappeared as soon as the water hit around 50. the fish woke up and ate it. I did not feed the fish at all until a week or so ago.
