Overview
I started my back yard project, building raised bed along the edge of the fence since our grass dont reach those area and I wanted to plant flowers and fruit trees. There is one corner of the yard that gets no sun so nothing will grow there. I decided I want to put a pond there since the pond requires no sun, brilliant idea! Not so much now J since I want to be able to have plants but it’s hard to find shaded plants.

Planning and Construction
I built this pond in 2012, with the help of my husband (advice on how to correctly construct a pond that will withstand the water pressure) and my son (played in the yard nicely while I work).
My pond is a raised pond, about 600 gallons, built with 2 layers of bricks. Took me about 3 weekends to finish it.
I didn’t plan for the filter so I had to added it later. The first filter is just a 2 gallons waterfall with bio filter loaded in there. Then I added pre-filter to the pump. It was a lot of work trying to clean the pre-filter so I built a container bogs at the end of summer.

Put in waterfall after the fact I didnt think of any filter...

I added two container bogs in the pond. Now the water noice increased quite a lot. The fish love it though. 4/10/2014

Fish / Plant Stock
I first had way too much fish, about 27 goldfish and other small fish but then I learn about water quality and gave away many fish. Now I have 6 goldfish – 2 shubbies, 1 blue shubbie, 3 feeder goldfish (white/orange). In summer I’ll bring my guppies from the inside tank to be in the pond.
I’m hoping to get shubbie babies this year (saw a little indication of belly nudging the other day).
