Not envious there @addy1 . Though I still want to see the snake dance in the driveway.

I can't find the snake in those pictures.

Honestly I'd be tempted to euthanize these snakes and lay them out for other predators to eat.......you're overrun with them and soon the farm pond will be too !

It is against MD law to kill a snake. I find it hard to kill a spider let alone a snake. This is getting a bit overwhelming.

Oh my not copper heads! Northern water snakes. Non venomous. If it was copperheads I would have a exterminator here now.
Food ,there is a lot, the frogs are gone, the fish are going. I bought 150 fish, the numbers are way down now.

All I can do is keep trapping, if big mama has her kids that is up to another 30 (normal load is 8-10 babies)

The fish in the 1000 gallon pond are really spooked they won't even come and get food now.

The gift that keeps on giving....................man I hope all this ends soon as I can't bear thinking of all those fish becoming sushi!
Too many to count pretty soon!

Well caught #8 some poor lil fry got into the minnow trap, #8 went in and ate them. It is hard to see, but I could see #8 eating the fish. Now #9 is going around the trap , might enter tonight, they seem to want to join their snake buddy. Fingers crossed we have two tomorrow am.

IF you have a Nessie show up REMOVE IT! This invasion is unreal. Catching them with a egg and a piece of chicken. I release the fish when I see them in the trap, missed this one that got in and poor thing was a snack.

This reminds me of the year we unearthed a nest of mice when we were moving a raised bed garden. They were kind of cute and seemed harmless so we just shooed them away... I'm pretty sure they all moved inside my house, and invited the whole darn family! We were catching mice for WEEKS.

And here i am making a beach area for the turtle incase it is a female" flower pot" and she just got knocked up , when we had the two turtles. so she can dig and lay her eggs. so far the only damage is the aquatic plants. As long as they leave the moss alone we're good. should i be rethinking this. i know they will take smaller fish and i do have a BUNCH of neon's, cardinal's and danios . but they aren't expected to survive the winter anyways
feeding the turtle .jpg

pretty cool having a wild turtle come take food from you . this guy / gal / flower pot has definitely gotten comfy at the pond

YEAH! #8 and 9 are rehomed. The small one, which ate the poor trapped fish, was nice and calm. The large one that was checking out the trapped small one decided to move in. It was one aggressive snake, striking over and over. But can't bite through metal. Put on my long bee gloves, thick leather. Opened the trap and they just wiggled away into the grass.

When we come back in a few days we will put the trap out again. I don't want fish caught in it and being stuck in it.

@GBBUDD I wouldn't worry about the turtle and the fish. I doubt they can catch fish easily. Like the snake , watching it hunt it has to work. Mainly gets fish by hiding in the plants, stealth hunting. The 1000 gallon pond the fish don't have that many places to hide and run. We use that pond as our snake spotting pond, have it on cam.

Your Nessie invasion is beyond belief! I am very grateful that our second one last year only stuck around for a short time, and this year when we removed the one remaining Nessie, no more have turned up. (we do have a few small copperheads lurking around in the front wall, but that's a whole different story/situation! lol)
