15 months and only newts

I built my very small (1.8 meters , 0.9 wide about 1.2 m deep) 15 months ago. Despite various plants (all recommend for wildlife), buying daphia, ramshorn snails ,Gammarus pulex, the only thing I have ever found in it is newts. Any ideas on what to do?

I should have said I live in the outskirts of London

Is there something in particular you're trying to attract?

It may take other critters longer to find your spot. Maybe a waterlily for a frog to sit on?
