15 year old pond. More work than I want but still worth it.

Great looking pond and agree the rounded decks are awesome.

I also love the rounded deck. It's a really nice look!
Just make sure everyone watches their step since there's no railing! One too many adult drinks and someone could end up swimming!

Why is it so much work?
What work or maintenance are you doing that makes it feel like a lot of work?

I don't do much work on mine. Sure, there's the Spring clean up and the Fall preparation for Winter, but other than that, it runs itself.
I do tinker around with rocks, plants, etc. at times, but that's nothing that is neccessary.

Bog plug....
I admit, I filter only with a bog which requires almost zero maintenance.

I also have a bog filter. I have added a bio pressure filter and this spring an OASE BioSmart 10000 Pond Filter, three pumps, and aeration. The water is clear but the string algae is a problem. Always has been and I don't know what else to try.

String algae will fight to survive in the stream but doesn't stand a chance anywhere else

You are in the big leagues with that pond! I am probably under bogged, have to think about that.

one observation i see is your air stones in the pond that is where the string algae has a chance to grow right after the main waterfall. and fast flowing water. i believe if there is a lesser amount of o2 that may help deter the algae just a thought

Cleaning out string algae 2-3 times a week.
Do you get the string algae all year or just in the Spring?
I don't get string algae for some reason.
Could it be sun exposure?
Maybe you get more sun than me. I don't get much direct sunlight on my pond.
