275 gal Rain Water Collector

Just purchased a used, food-grade ,275 gal liquid container to diy into a rain barrel. I will plumb downspout on my rain gutters into it. Can I use water in my pond or are there contaminates from roof to worry about?

Yeah, irrigation is the primary use. I'm building a 3-foot platform for gravity feed. Weighing pros and cons of pond use. Pros: water conservation, can also plumb city water into it and vent out chlorine, can warm pond after overnight frosts. Cons: contaminated soot washed from roof goes into pond. Looks like Cons win.
