@Becky @Dave 54 and anyone else.....

Long story so short that I'll leave out most of the details, LOL!

I placed an order online through a company in the UK. I ended up having to file a "missing mail" claim through our USPS here in the USA. When I went to file that claim, they wanted to know the address of the sender, which I had. But Ladies and Gentlemen, I had NO EARTHLY IDEA how to transfer that info to fill in all the little spaces and blanks! I really felt so dumb, to say the least!

Here, in the USA we have the only thing I am familiar with:
Name of recipient/sender
Street address
State, then zip code

The address I had for this company wasn't written in any particular format [or not one that I was familiar with]. And I'm not familiar with UK geography and terminology, so I had no idea what was what, or how to write it out [or rather, how to fill in the blocks]. I just made sure all the names and numbers were included, Oh Lord!

For any future correspondence issues, PLEASE, HOW does one properly write out a UK address? I know those folks are laughing their heads off at me, as I am myself....at my ignorance [I thought it would be so easy......]

Hi TM,

The usual format in the UK is

Name
Number, Street,
District (often left out- only used in larger cities)
Town/City
County
Postcode.

What's the address you have for the UK company? Post it and I'll try and interpret it for you.

Unit 6 Chancery Gate Business Centre... this should be the first line in the address (it's the number and building)
Whiteleaf Road... self explanatory!
Hemel Hempstead... this is the town
Herts... Short for Hertfordshire, which is the county (the UK is divided into around 50 regions called Counties)
HP3 9HD... this is the postcode, which you would call zip code.

Hope this helps!
