A Ruddy Darter came visiting

I really didn't expect dragonflies to be around so late in the year, so I was amazed (and very pleasantly surprised) to receive this visitor to my pond a couple of weeks ago. He's probably a result of the extremely mild October we had in the UK. By coincidence, I had my camera out so was able to grab a few shots before he departed.

Very cool! I just saw one a few days ago. Thought it was pretty odd since we've already had frost and freezing temps.

Yes, he was just lifting off. Sadly almost certainly the last I'll see until next summer.
