Hi all~

My introduction is here.
https://www.gardenpondforum.com/topic/7482-hello/

This year was our 10th anniversary and I decided to make a pond for my wife.

Because of the limited space in my backyard, I had to build right against the wall of my house and it's only about 160 gallon.

One of my friend warned me about possible water damage to the house foundation. I got worried, so I decided to put a concrete and water proof sealer in addition to two layers of 45mil EPDM pond liner. I did not ask any advice when I was building my first pond. I just hope that I did not make any terrible mistakes. It's too late now.. :surprised:

Thank you~

welcome and wow look at that water lettuce ,I'm jealous /Looks like you did a great job but watch that water does not get between the 2 liners .What kind of filter are you using and how many fish and you really should remove all stones from the bottom they could make it a lot harder to clean .But looks like you did a great job thumbs up and wife must be happy

That's a nice pond and your plants are nice and green and growing big. You may have fun painting your house someday w/ it that close but I guess you could cover the pond and put boards to stand on somehow or never paint the house.
I had one right up close to my house once but decided to move it cuz the septic pipes were underneath and wondered if something happened to those pipes it could be a real mess.

Pond over the septic tank close to house.

Very nice! Love your rock work. You may want to put an extension vent over your dryer vent, you might be blowing lint into the pond.

I saw in your intro post you had algae etc growing, but as a new pond it will go through the new pond cycle. As your plants grow, like the water lettuce, the algae will start to decrease, the plants fight it for the nutrients.

could the algae bloom be coming from the heat from the dryer vent

My washer/dryer are in the garage which is opposite end of the house. There is a fire place on the other side of the wall where the vent is. Maybe it's for the fire place? I do not use the fire place though.

Does that dryer vent cause any problems with lint?

I have a pressurized filter with bioballs inside and UV built-in. There are more bio balls inside waterfall filter. No fish yet, but planning to have 4 goldfish. 2 at at time as recommended.

Laguna MaxFlow 600gph submersible pump
Pondmaster CPF-250U pressurized filter with UV built-in
Waterfall box with bio balls
Two pond spitters

I had a question regarding the pressurized filter with UV. I turned the UV on since the algae problems. If I do not use the UV (turn off the UV), can I unplug the power for the pressurized filter? Or does it need power to run the pressurized filtering?

In any pressurized filter I have seen, the power only runs the UV light, so yes, you can unplug it. Your pump supplies the pressure. John
