I have 100g stock tank converted to a bog. I have the by pass in to prevent ice dams on stream. Was gonna frame it in and use foam board but not liking how it will turn out as i want it to look good the insulation to be semi permanent. Looking for a temp system for this year and give me time to make it look right for next year. already gonna wrap the exposed piping. Hay is not an option.

Framing around will be removed as I don't have time to make it look right. rather a temp at this point and go from there and have more time next season to make it look right

If your plants are hardy it should not be a problem if the water freezes. However, I had a stocktank that was elevated and froze and cracked one winter. I winter over my bog plants in a 100 gallon stocktank partially filled with water but it is in an area where its not really exposed to the worst of the weather.

I don't dislike the frame and I'd be hesitant to cut up the solid pink foam if is just temporary this year. Lots of other insulation options, can use most anything as long as you can keep it fairly dry otherwise the rigid stuff would probably be the best bet.

keeping it running during the winter. the long white pipe on the right is the stream by pass and will be wrapped.

I don't think the framing looks bad at all - perhaps part of a long term camouflage? Maybe fill the airspace with insulation and then a stone facing? Just an idea...

Are you concerned about the tank cracking or the plants? Or both?

I turn mine off, the surface area is huge and would really cool the pond water and I prefer not worrying about ice dams. Mine is land level, it does freeze solid.

Keeping the water temp. As I will keep the bog running.

Looking for a temp currently.

Why not go with framing, and adding the insulation as a layer between the tank and the wood? I know you must have your reasons, but lots of people have posted pics of their "enclosed" ponds or stock tanks on here, and they look really nice. I found this, but also did a Google search and found some nice framing jobs.
