Hello All. Im thinking about digging a pond in this location and would love any comments and feedback. The light blue would be the limits and dark blue is the deep end. Im thinking 3 feet deep. The skinny run would be shallow sloping to deep end where i would have plants/rocks a place for the kids to put their hands in the water (cant keep them away). Id love fish. The red circle is a higher elevation and id like a waterfall (discharge from pump). Location is Upstate S. Carolina.

You could go all the way to the top of that rock retaining wall and have a really cool waterfall. I’d put your skimmer at the end of the skinny section or, better yet, make that area an intake bay.

With your hill, I’d be tempted to build like 5 waterfalls.

Hello and welcome! I am the last person to give advice, but wanted to say hello!

You might want to look into a bog filtration system, using plants.

I want to stay away from the upper level. Lots of roots, lots of leaves and shade. Maybe in 10 years when I add on but I like the way you're thinking.

I would say go shallower than 3 feet, 2 should be plenty unless temperature extremes are commonplace.

If you have lots of bears you have three choices. But all three together is the best bet .
1. Concrete pond
2. Electrified Razor wire
3. Shot gun . Loud shotgun.

Thanks going to look nice. That slope will be a nice back drop to your pond, but be sure to make a berm or ditch before the pond to direct any rain runoff from the slope away from the pond.
