Advice on uv sterilizer for 400 gallon pond

Will a 13 watt uv sterilizer be big enough to clear up green water pond is about 2 weeks old at best any brands suhhestions would 9 watts be big enough

u mean naturally the bloom should last another 5 days or after the uv is installed?

first off .. a 9 watter can clear a 1000 gal pond in a few days...

Figured tht so nine would still be more then I needed basically

yep!...when the ponds clear, run the u.v for 4 or 5 days extra and shut it off.. save the bulb!

Now on to brands tetra pond 9 watt total pond 9 watt sunterra or hagen laguna anybody using any brand they can personally recommend?

Do you connect the UV light to the existing pump or does it run off another one? I really don't like the green that has taken over my pond and am thinking about getting the UV sterilizer (clarifier).

i ran mine as follows....pump to U.V to filter. manufacturers reccommend pump / filter / U.V. but thats really not possible on a gravity return filter. and they perform well before the filter also. the idea being the filtered water would be cleaner making the U.V more effective.

Lowes has a 1300gph pump with a built in UV.... wonder if this would work? If it did, could always leave in pond and only plug in when needed.

yeah, those are SMART POND brand...if you look on ebay there are alot of smart pond pumps...most are refurbished... makes me wonder on their quality...
