My first Lilly had its first Bloom come and go. What do I do now? Cut the faded Bloom ? Leave it?
What about other flowering pond plants?

I generally trim my lilies about once every two weeks when they really start growing and blooming. I take out any spent blossoms as well as any leaves that are dead or dying. You don't have to - you can just let the faded blossoms and old leaves sink - but that will add to the organic matter in your pond. The same with any other pond plant - cutting away anything which is dead that might fall into the pond will go along way toward keeping your pond clean!

Hope that helps!

If you can, remove any spent or dead plant material. The "when" probably isn't as crucial, because it's not an easy task when you might have to literally get into the pond -- but when you can. Eventually it's going to decay and could cause water quality issues. Just be careful about pulling or tugging on lily parts, though, as you might uproot the plant. They make a scissors/grabber combo tool that does an OK job. As far as any other plant material, I scoop it off the surface -- otherwise, it waits until, well, whenever.....

I just came on here to ask the exact same question!
I will cut off the old lily bloom. Now if I knew the right thing to do with old dead lotus leaves on the surface...
