I've just bought a PondXpert ElctroAir Compact 210 Pump that replaces an old solar powered pump. The difference in the noise level is significant. Not only from the pump itself but the air stones as well. The fish appear to be slower at coming to the surface much slower when they are fed.
Is this normal?

No clue on that pump but any changes in anything in a pond might make fish suspicious of what have you done now, lol!

Welcome to the forum, I would guess the same. The fish know something has changed.

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. I've put a video on the media tab called pond. Not sure how to get it in this post. The link is below.
It just sounds very loud to me.

Oh my gosh... I agree! That's terribly loud. Is the hose fully connected? Is the pump sitting on the ground or a solid surface?

You might want to 1) read reviews about this and see if the noise is common, 2) contact the company to see if there are any FAQ’s or “helpful hints”, and 3) send it back. And I’m assuming that you’ve gone through the owners manual, and made sure all of its parts are connected correctly? Was it advertised as a “quiet” air pump?

I watched/listened and didn't think it was that loud, comparatively. That said, you can put some thing hollow over top and muffle it somewhat. I do this to both hide and soften the sound. I find that as the more powerful pumps begin to age, that the vibration gets louder. A sure sign I have to replace the bladder inside.
