has anyone ever had algae on their koi? I have had a koi pond for 6 years and this is the first time I have ever seen it. I opened my pond (I live in Rhode Island) Aprl 1st and I noticed that 5 of my koi-- I have 30 total -- have algae along the top of them that varies is size-- any feedback would be helpful because I am baffled!!! Thank you

algae? Is it white cottony stuff? Please do a better job of describing the issue or post a pick as soon as you can.
If it is a tan color and looks like fine fur or hair, then it is fungus on open wounds.
it is green and looks like the algae that you get on the sides of the pond. I will post a pick asap but it has been raining here for 3+ days.
yes, you can get algae on fish themselves. Usually pond salt takes care of this.
Use 1 1/4 cups of pond salt per 100 gallons of water for ponds with plants or up to 2 1/2 cups of salt per 100 gallons for ponds without plants.
