Hello Everyone I pond is looking very good water is clear and the fish are now swimming around as it warms up here in Kingston. The water lily bags have that soft algae all over them and the sign (labels) also, is there something I need to so or just let the fish eat it, the pond is 8' by 4' and about 36" deep. I have a filter outside and a pump down in the pond. Sure glad it is warming up and all the fish made it through the winter. There are about 14 fish but not to large, biggest ones are maybe 5 to 6". thanks

Let the fish take care of it. Don’t overfeed. It’s called “new pond syndrome,” so anytime your pond starts anew, the algae will take over until everything balances out.

For me, it is a seasonal phenomenon. Once the biological filtration gets going for the year, the algae dies off.

Pretty much all ponds this time of year as they start to wake up will explode with algae. The bacteria the plants ,the amphibians even our fish are coming around if you go up into my stream you'll find some hair algae though admittedly it's a higher grade it's a deep green not the lime green and it's closer to a grass than an algae with little form to it.
Once everything gets established the main bulk of algae will almost disappear over night.
So don't go running g for barley extracts or muckaways just yet see where your pond balances out to .

If you know your over stocked , under filtered than that's another story
