Ammonia and waste produced per inch of fish size

Sorry if I posted this somewhere else. I was struck by these estimates, as a six inch fish apparently produces nearly eight times as much ammonia and fecal waste as a three inch fish. It’s no wonder that small ponds reach a dangerous tipping point as the little fish grow into bigger fish.

Is this based on feeding 1-2% of body weight in food per day does anyone know?
