Poor fish, we are warmer, last winter my fishless ponds, small, all froze almost totally.
And they are in the ground, ie insulated.

Even in here with many, i can't say all preformed ponds . I feel the same way , but ive learned to bite my tounge as with politics there's just no helping them. Koi get big quick at have voracious appetites. What goes in must come out, as they are poop machines.
Healthy koi will eat until all the food is gone . And anyone who says I make sure they finish eating in 5 minutes is either way over feeding or has some sick fish. I feed about 3 to 4 medium size pellets when they get fed . I know who the pigs in the pond and I'll try to make sure I feed others when the pigs are searching else where.

That saying feed as much as your fish can eat in five minutes . Has never kept fish a day in there life. If it takes more than 30 seconds something is out of balance.

That's what I took from her response. That koi have zero place in a aquarium or preform. Like people we can survive in a 6×9 jail cell but it's hardly enjoyable, or healthy.
