Thought some might be interested in how water flows "down under". Same way as everywhere else, down!!
Pond is about 3000 l, 10 m long. About 30 T of granite rocks, 8000 lph pump, UVC filter and blanket weed controller. Couple of fish.

Bloddy heavy granite, from the same area that provided the stone fr the Sydney Harbour bridge. i was lucky enough to find someone to extract rock that was weathered in a paddock (field)
In the meantime the garden has grown greatly and the surrounds look very different. I also had problems with blanket weeh for a while until I started dosing our water (from pour tanks) with salt so that the electonic copper dispensers would work.

Ok Images you want, images you'll get! if you see some wire mesh in the images, it's to keep maurauding Kookaburra's at bay (biggest relative of the Kingfisher family. I also have suffered depredations fro a resident red-bellied black snake who just loves to go swiming with my (very ordinary but breeding well ) goldfish.

yes, the god rotted black snakes are only too happy for a fish meal! We have both kangaroos and wallabies on our property (some 5 acres so there is room) We are also close to timbered areas so thay have room to wander freely. The drought has increased the numbers coming in close to the house, we see signs every morning of thier presence. however they have trashed my pool cover twice by trying to use the floating blanket as a short cut!
Interesting note: When our fish spawned last year in the bottom pond, i found fingerlings in th top pool, so either eggs came through the filter/UV lamp without damage or they did, unless , like salmon they can swim up-stream!
