Anyone help me figure out why my forget me nots are dying?

So I recently put this in my container pond last week. The first pic is how they looked when I put them in there. A week later there’s a lot of mushy black dead foliage inside and the flowers seem to be dying and turning pink. What am I doing wrong?

My experience with forget-me-not is that it prefers to be in an area of quickly moving water. When I first planted it, I had it in two different areas. The plant in the still pool area died. The one along the side of my waterfall stream is trying to take over the planet.

I've never planted forget-me-nots in a pot in the pond, so I can't comment on that other than to say they do prefer shallow water. Mine grow near the edge of the pond and waterfall, and like @BKHpondcritters said are on a mission for world domination.

I'd suggest getting it up out of the water - and out of the pot if you can.

Such a bummer because I would have loved for them to take off but you’re right. I think they do need running water
