Aquatic plant

Hi could anyone please identify this aquatic plant please,it was given to me by a friend who accidentally lost the name tag from it !!
I think it could possibly be some kind of sedge grows quite fast with nodes coming out of pot,been in the pond for about 3 months now it hasn’t flowered but very strong grower it does have purple stems please see attached photo

I'm not certain, but it LOOKS like a plant I've heard referred to as giant reed or Colorado grass. Those grow to about 8 feet tall - I've never seen that for sale as a pond plant though. It's definitely in the reed family.

I was just looking at a Norfolk reed. I don't think it's a sedge. Sedge leaves seem to all originate from the base.

That's why I think reed - reeds have those leaves from the stems. It has a bamboo vibe.

It's doing well, so maybe just watch for any seed heads or flowers and be prepared for it to be a large plant.

Took me a minute to notice your flag. The plant you have reminds me of an orchid. If you look up white helleborine and check the plant structure. There is a number of orchids that grow along the edge of wet areas in Ireland and the UK. Good luck.

Thank you all for taking the trouble to try to identify the plant,just cut off all the nodes reaching out and will leave and see what happens
