The head guy was reading to me from a magazine article, a couple of weeks ago.
It was all about Koi and building Koi ponds.

The article said, if you stock your pond
with koi, you must buy floating food, as the koi are bottom feeders and won't surface.
Thus, the floating foods makes them come to the surface to snag the food, this way
you can see them!

"Unbelieveable" I said.

I shot this video this morning, Cliff was cleaning the beach. This is the way he does it,
blasts the hose on all the rocks until all the gunk is loosened. It then
travels down the pond to the bottom drain...
After the koi enjoyed the beach cleaning, they hung in the beach as usual, looking to be fed.

See the Imagine rock in the beach? As soon as the imagine rock
looks dirty, we clean the beach.

Do you think that it is odd that our koi love the force of the hose so much ?
They also swim on top of the water all the time, well almost all of the time, anyhow.

Here are our Bottom Feeders.... in action. If they look like they're
swimming on top of the water, it is because they are swimming on top
of the water.

I don't think this is unusual at all. Firstly, they are river fish--so fast moving water is something they do love.

On my pond, when I add water with the hose, they do the same thing and come play in the stream. At this time of year, I think the cool, new water is also refreshing to them.

This is a great video. You've got an awesome collection of fish. Your two white butterflies truly have stunning tails.

Thanks for sharing that with us.
