Good afternoon to all,
Had my Blagdon stand up pond a couple of years now and have 8 goldfish. The pond is in full sun most of the day.
I have an issue with what looks like blanketweed. I’ve tried numerous ‘cures’ to get rid of it including the latest Tap- No More Blanketweed. It’s not worked!
Does anyone have a suggestion as to something I can do or buy to rid the pond of most of it? It’s relentless and weekly I’m pulling out a lot.
I have attached a couple of pics so you can see if it is indeed Blanketweed.
Any help much appreciated.
Paul

You need some shade. Can you put up a shade sail or 2?

Maybe the best way to deal with this is to pull it out. I use a toilet brush taped to a bamboo tomato stake for that job, wrapping the algae around the brush. In places where the algae isn't that long, I can just scrub it off with the brush.

How many fish are in the pond? Are they being overfed? A lot of fish and generous amounts of food will create too many nutrients and that feeds the algae.
