Has anyone bred bluegill in their water garden? I have a 21,000 gallon water garden and was planning on buying some mature bluegill from a guy an hour south of town. I read that if you make a sandy bottom in areas of the pond at around 2-3 feet of depth that this will promote their breeding. Have the fry taken over the pond for anyone out there? Thanks

if you let nature run its course and do not take measures to protect the fry, they will pretty much stay in check. But even then it will depend on how many spawning females. I find minnows, frogs and dragonfly larvae are a few of the big helpers in a pond.
