Bog Filter

Hi, I have a pond at the top and base of waterfall, with goldfish in the bottom pond. I am wanting to turn the top pond into a bog filter and use the waterfall. Looking for ideas on how to turn the top pond into a bog filter - feeling a bit stuck due to the shape of it.

The bottom is so much smaller I would have one two inch pipe run across the bottom and as the feed pipe to this meats your two shelves I may have another pipe on each side providing you have a foot of water their if not I would just do the one pipe at the bottom cut suits every 6 inches through the pipe 1/3 the width of the pipe place 2 to 3 inch rock all along the bottom and on both shelves. Cover over with one layer over the pipes this will alow water to flow better into the shelves edges. Then use 3/4 or 3/8 river rock to within 4 to 6 inches of the top
