Now that the heat is gone, I have started on my BOG again. I decided to go with a DIY spillway. What the best way to secure it? I assume you wrap the linner around the spillway opening. Do I silicone the bottom piece to the bog? Should I screw the spillway to the bog as well? I will silicone the walls to the bottom. Just curious about the bottom piece.

If it were mine, I would put liner up and under the spillway and up the wall edges. Secure it well to the box. I would then get a good silicone, roofing goop or use Goop for marine use, more expensive but that stuff is made to be under fresh and or sea water.

Apply a good layer to the spillway and a layer to the box, let it get a bit tacky then attach. Don't touch for a few days. The goop hardens like a rock. The roofing goop stays a bit flexible, silicone has failed a few times for me, releasing.

Also stick the two rock edges to the bottom rock. I don't recall is the box sitting on the edge of your pond, ie where the spillway edge is, is it hanging over the pond? If it is any little leaks will drip into the pond.

Thank you for the info. Yes it is going to be sitting on the edge of the pond. Do you have a recommendation for a Marine Goop? I was planning on using Black Aquarium sealant. I would rather not take a chance of it failing.

I have been using it on our new old boat. I did use it to fix a pvc pipe we put in one of our stock tanks. Could not get it to stop leaking, we clipped a support edge. So I drained down the pond about 2 inches below the pipe, wiped clean, used a bit of cleaner, dried it, smeared the marine goop all around the pipe. It dries fast btw, I let it dry for a few days. The persistent leak is gone! Yeah
The goop is rock hard.
