My planned pond will be around 6000-7000 gallons and designed in a figure eight with one approx 8' section and another 12' section--each will have a 4" bottom drain. These drains will gravity drain in to a Ultrasieve III, which ideally would be between the drains for the shortest possible length. Unfortunately due to the location of a sewer line, it would be easier to place the Sieve on one end. My question: I have read that you should try and keep gravity bottom drains as short as possible, but no length is ever mentioned. With my preferred placement of the Sieve, one drain pipe would be about 8' long, but the other about 18'. In your experience will a 4" gravity bottom drain that is 18' long be a problem. Flow will likely be around 3000gph . Thanks in advance.

@ScottM You might try the folks over at KOIPHEN for advice and guidance. Not too many here have BD,s but I’m sure there is a lot of experience on their site.
