I haven't a clue of how to start this project? I am wondering if its too big of a project for a novice like me. Should I call a pond specialist or do it myself? I know I need to drain it but I don't quite know how. If someone could help me by telling me exactly what I need to do step by step I would be very appreciative!

its connected but does it work? i didnt see any pics with the falls functioning... are there any fish in the pond? plants ? it looks like the water level may be down and the water is green... the grren water is single cell alge, and can be cured.. you might try adding water, and dechlorinating.but until we know the circumstances advice would be uninformed... that can cause more work than neccessary, and problems.

The pump works but the water is too low for the waterfall. I have seen the waterfall work though when the water level was higher. No fish or plants in the pond.
Thanks for trying to help me. I know I know it is probably hard to do as you can not physically see and check out the pond.
Any suggestions on my pump? Should I get a new one?
there is alot of debris on the bottom of the pond so I would like to know how to drain and clean it. Do I use a special kind of soap?

no soap. you could add an outlet on you existing pump and pump out your water. some people use a pond vacuum when the water level is low, and some may use just a shop vac to clean the bottom and sides. If you are really unsure of what you want to do/your comfort level, it never hurts to hire a pond specialist in your area , watch them and ask them questions as they clean it. Most people who build and maintain ponds are a wealth of knowledge and love to share. It looks like it would be an awesome pond when fully functional. Good Luck! And keep us updated.

NIGIL...the water level is already to low for her pump...
a submersable dirty water pump will empty the pond nicely. (you could rent one from a local tool rental if you dont want to buy) if your current pumps working you could wait on that. you may want to check your falls at the point of origin, you may have a waterfall basin filter... when you get the pond emptied a power washer would do nicely for the cleanup.(no detergents) when your done with the cleanup and the pond is refilled do you plan on fish and plants? just plants? just fish? is your pump fed from a bottom drain ? a skimmer? these questions will help determine your next steps

Get a cheap submersible pump from Harbor Freight with a clear tubing from Home Depot and use it to drain the pond. You will find many uses for this investment of less than $20.00. When you get it cleaned up, add some plants and if you can, an overhead sunshade. In LV, the sun is pretty intense during the summer.

Well if you want your new house to have an added good scenery outside your house why not get a good specialist on this and also ask them to landscape also your lot.
