Hi, I have inherited a plastic pond base and want to get on with construction this week. I have had a few thoughts...the pond base is very steep at the edge and I don't want hedgehogs drowning so I am thinking of creating a shallow shelf area around the pond...I am also thinking that this area could be planted with water loving plants. In terms of the deeper area what sort of plants should I introduce....are there pots available which float....the shallow shelf area around the edge will need to be lined....any technical details of how to do this gratefully accepted. Thanks in advance for any help

Welcome! To our group. Pictures help too

If you put in potted plants near the edge, they act like a shelf. Big enough pots that won't tip over.
